Job Title:      Instructional Assistant

Salary:          Classified Salary Schedule

 

Primary Function:  To aide and assist both the teacher and students in the alternative education classroom.

 

Illustration of responsibilities and key job duties: 

  • To work with students individually on classroom assignments.
  • To work with students in small groups on various subjects.
  • To assist the teacher with daily operations in the classroom.
  • To perform duties as assigned by the teacher or administrators.
  • Serve the students in the classroom in whatever capacity deemed appropriate to contribute to the management of the classroom and assist the teacher. 

Special Assignments: 

  The Position Guide does not entail every task or responsibility that the employee may be asked to do.  The employee may be asked to perform other duties if deemed necessary and reasonable to support the orderly operations of the classroom. 

 

Organizational Relationships: 

The Instructional Assistant is under the direct guidance of the teacher he or she is assigned. The next level of supervision will be the Principal or Assistant Principal of the building. Job performance will be assessed by the immediate supervisor/teacher and the building-level administrator.  Performance will be assessed based on Key Job Responsibilities or Duties as in District evaluation system.

 

Position Holder Qualifications:

The Instructional Assistant must hold a high school diploma or GED and 60 college hours and pass the PRAXIS paraprofessional exam.
